Refashion--1940s Style

I have been really enjoying my stash of women's magazines from the 40s and 50s. I did a quick skim through and now I'm going back and slowly working my way through the articles. One fun thing is the "Found Money" page.

This one was from the April 1946 issue of Woman's Day. I love what they did with each of them, but I really liked #3 where the nightgown became a full slip/blouse.

I'm almost inspired to try this myself. Almost.

Fun article! I might try it if I ever get a chance.

Amanda--It IS inspiring, isn't it?

The funny thing is that it never crossed my mind to use a pattern to recut something. So logical--how did it not occur to me?

On my sidebar under "Sewing" is a blog that is about refashioning. Check it out if you haven't yet!

I think that's a great idea! I'll have to look around for one! Love the pictures you shared. Would love to live back then again.
